I am turning 65 this year. What should I do to prepare for Medicare?
If you have an appointment make sure to have ready your Social Security number, basic personal info, and a list of any medications and doctors you see that you would like to go over with your agent.
What are my options for switching plans but keeping my doctor?
Doctors go through an administrative process with carriers to take differentcoverage options but sometimes that means they’ll accept some plans and not others. When reviewing a plan this is a major consideration and we want to make sure when your changing coverage that you receive the care you’re used to if possible.
What is the “best plan”?
There is no straight forward “best plan” because everyone has different needs and resources available. We do our best to find a fit that will cover you as best as posssible and give you peace of mind in your health andd future.
What supplemental coverage do I qualify for?
Once you have Medicare, you may qualify for extra coverage like a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, a Medicare Advantage plan, or a Part D prescription plan. Each of these try and fill the gaps left from being on solely a medicare plan.
Are there any resources that can help me outside of my health plan?
There are a wide variety of subscriptions and organizations that can help cover your gaps in coverage. When looking at your policy we can go into detail over anything that is going to be left out and find the resources that will help fill these gaps.
I’m already sick and keep getting rejected from plans. Do I have any options?
Certain health plans, like Marketplace coverage, can’t deny you for pre-existing conditions if applicable. You might also qualify for Medicaid depending on your situation. It’s also worth looking into guaranteed issue life insurance or final expense plans to help protect your family from future costs.
I recently moved, what should I do to cover my family?
Moving will qualify you for a Special Enrollment period to change your health plan throughout the year. It is also worth considering a term or life policy to financially protect your family in case of emergencies.
What about my OTC drug card?
Some Medicare Advantage and other health plans include an OTC (over-the-counter) drug card that can be used at CVS, Walmart, etc. If you’re switching plans sometimes these will be automatically covered andd you won’t receive an OTC card so it’s important to fully understand your coverage with your agent.
I lost my job’s health plan… now what?
Whether you just switched jobs, decided to work for yourself, or were let go you might qualify for Marketplace coverage or even a Special Enrollment Period to pick a new plan right away.
